Racial Justice and Reconciliation is newly established ministry in the diocese of Raleigh as of 2026. This is a brief history of our origins.

The most direct line to the establishment of this ministry has it roots at Holy Cross. Holy Cross, at the direction of Bishop Luis, in 2025 and 2026 led an event series Stations of the Cross: Overcoming Racism  on the Friday's during Lent in collaboration with various communities within the diocese. 

The image to the right is an artifact from the 2026 Lenten event series conducted at Holy Cross. In 2025 a similar event series was conducted with a different set of communities invited. 

In parallel and in some cases proceeding these event series, several other efforts within the parishes and communities in the diocese that have helped shape this ministry and enable us to getting the launching point in 2026.
